Hello Everyone, I hope you are doing great. The weather has been great here the weather is warm, warm. The great news is that the Summer thunderstorms are back and it pours rain almost every afternoon to cool everything down. The fishing is still Red Hot. I spoke to Bill Hammond of Endless Summer Charters, he said the have been catching all kinds of fish, Snook, Red Fish, Trout, Triple Tail, Spanish Mackerel, sharks, etc.

Check out Captain Bill Hammond web site…. whether you want to go shelling, fishing, sight seeing or just cruising. He will get you there safe and in style….

On to a fun filled family day on the water… Cabbage Key Bound…

We headed out late morning for a day of fun and sun. Everyone on board wanted to head to Cabbage Key for lunch and then go to the beach and play. We headed to Cabbage Key through the back bay cause the main sound was choppy and on the rough side. I had for gotten how beautiful it was in the back bay. All the mangroves, wild life, birds, fish. Just really breath taking beatiful. Check out the photos….

On the way before getting to Cabbage Key you pass a place with several old fishing cottages built on the water many, many years ago. It is really neat to see this out in the middle of the bay. If only those old fishing cottages could talk. Imagine what they would say and what they have seen. All the fish that have been caught from them and the hurricanes those cottages have been through and are still there.

Coming into the Cabbage Key Channel we happened along my Father in law, who had been out fishing that morning. We call my Father in Law the Triple Tail King. He is the master Triple Tail Fisherman. We pulled up to him and the kids and cousins hopped on his boat to take photos with his catch.

Cabbage Key is a really cool must go to place. Be sure to go to the website and read all about it. It has been reported that this is where Jimmy Buffet wrote Cheese Burger in Paradise. The food is really good here and the atmosphere is to die for. There is a gift shop right on the water. The restaurant itself is really cool. In its bar and rear dining area there are tens of thousands of one dollar bills stuck all over the walls. It is an experience you must do.. Also you must go up into the water tower, amazing views!!!!

I have something funny to share with you. Many time folks will go in for lunch and they come back to their boats and find all there live bait is gone or all their shrimp is gone. Now how can this be. This bait is enclosed in a live well on the boat with the lid shut tight. Or folks get back on to their boats to find someone or something has gone through their snack bags and other things on the boat. WELL, my Father inlaw caught the culprits on Camera. You are not going to believe what you are about to see 🙂

I will have to help you here…. Look on the starboard (right) rear of the boat. Where the boat ladder is…See the Harry brown creature crawling out of the water onto the boat?

See it crawling into the boat

Now see it crawling over the back right side of the boat? It’s tail and rear leg hanging over.

THIS SEA OTTER IS SOOOO BUSTED ON FILM…. 🙂

Here is our little friend eating some ones Beef Jerky 🙂 I think he is saying Yum, Yum..

I was talking to my Father in law about these little guys and he said, just last weekend a couple had lunch and got on the boat to leave and as soon as they sat down the bait well lid flew open and 3 Sea Otters jumped out and hit the water, it scared the day lights out of them. Haaa. I would have loved to have gotten a photos with the looks on their faces as soon as that lid flew open.. 🙂

After lunch the boys wanted to walk over to the beach and catch crabs. While there, they notice a bunch of jet skiers who had some of their skies hi and dry on shore. (tide went out) They boys, being the great kids they are offered to help. So one by one they got all the skies off and into the water. The boys came to me and said we earned $$$five bucks!!!! For helping those people. As it turned out all these jet skiiers were from Tampa Florida and trailered their skiis down and put in at Ft. Myers Punta Rassa Boat Ramp. They drove there skies all the way up to Cabbage Key for lunch and then on to Boca Grande Pass to watch the Tarpon roll. That will be another story, The Tarpon rolling that is.

Check out the photos….

What a great day so far. I am sorry to say I am out of time, however, I will have the second part of an amazing day out on the water in SW Florida. We are truly blessed to live in such a beautiful place.

Remember to make time for your Family and Friends it is so very important. Time goes by so fast.

We are Oil FREE and our beaches are oil FREE. It appears that SW Florida is going to stay this way according to the computer models.

Interest rates dropped again and our property value are at an all time low. Now is the time to buy…. Wholly Cow 🙂

Make it a great and safe weekend.
