A Fun Filled Day On The Water

Posted by Shane On November 13th

Hello again everyone,

The weather has cooled down some here in sunny Southwest Florida. Now when I say cool, I mean high 60’s in the morning and it heats up to the 80’s. It is nice, the snow birds are just beginning to come down. I see a lot of out of state tags.

I have had people e mail me saying Shane what else do you do when you go boating. Well, we had a fun and exciting Sunday the weekend before last. Now here is the fun part, I had My family with me and my buddy and his girl friend and three friends with us for a total of nine of us. They are all from Chicago. This was quite the treat for them. We went to the Marina to get my buddies Boat. What a beautiful boat, 31 foot Renegade with twin 250 H.P. motors and it moves.. Craig thank you so much again for letting us use your boat. My big boat was out of the water for maintenance.

We headed out of the marina toward Cabbage Key. We saw all kinds of neat wild life along the way. We saw Bald Eagles, Ospreys, Dolphins, lots of fish and birds diving on bait fish. What a great experience to see my friends from out of town enjoying the sites, things that we as locals take for granted. I have written about Cabbage Key before. It is an island in Pine Island sound that has a great restaurant and lodge on it. Once we got to Cabbage Key. The kids and our friends fed the ducks and walked around the island. Inside of the restaurant are tens of thousands of dollars all over the walls that patrons put their names and dates they were there on the dollars and stuck them to the walls. After have a few cold beverages and a great lunch and of course the world famous Key Lime Pie, we went out side to check out the turtle and feed it flowers. My other friends proceeded to climb up the water tower and enjoy the scenic views. We decided to leave Cabbbage Key and head over to Captiva Pass.

Captiva pass is the pass between Cayo Costa and North Captiva. The water is always so beautiful here and always a very strong current. The kids and friends decided to go for a swim and play on the beach for awhile. What beautiful place with amazing views of the Gulf of Mexico. After swimming there, we all decided to go to the world famous Tween Waters Resort.

It has easy access right into the resort just follow the well marked channel Tween Waters is a blast. It offer as a bay beach and just accross the street is the beautiful white sand beaches on the Gulf of Mexico. Tween Waters Resort has a bunch to offer. A great Tiki Bar and huge pool to swim in as well as a hot spa. The food is really good here as are the cold beverages. Tween Waters has a very tropical feel and wonderful island breezes..Be sure to ask for ML she is great or ask for Tim. They are both great as is the rest of the wait staff. I want everyone to know that felt the friction between one particular employee and the boating patrons who have been coming to Tween Waters for years, that particular employee is now gone for good and Tween Waters Resort is welcoming everyone back with open arms and they feel very bad about the friction that one particular employee caused, however, it is all good now and we all had the best time. Once again the drinks were great, the food was great, the ice cream sandwiches for the kids were great, just a great experience and once again the wait staff were awesome. I urge you to go to Tween Waters Resort for the day the weekend or longer.

Here is there website for more info.

What a great day of boating enjoying nature and seeing and enjoying the things that I have learned to take for granted, it is so refreshing to take all this beauty in from a visitors perspective. It truly makes you appreciate the beautiful paradise that we do live in. The friends we had on this boat that day will talk about this day for the rest of their lives.

It was getting late and we decided to head back to the Marina to put the boat up and get ready for Monday.

Be sure to make time to smell the roses and spend time with you family, friends and loved ones. Life is very short, so make the best of it.

Until next time make it a great weekend!!!!!!
